Ireland

A bit of false advertising here; I didn't draw so much in Ireland because it was so friggin' cold ( seriously! I would've lost fingers), but here's some stuff anyway:

imaginary people, the old library in trinity college and some studies at the national gallery. Left bottom is from a caravaggio (I hate this guy) :)

next, not in Ireland:

my funcky cat

skinny dude

and color! study of a russian landscape painter, Isaac Levitan.

2013 for the win!

Happy New Year!

Well, first post of a more digital year; in 2013 I'll be trying to overcome my fear of screwing up things (which usually results in doing, well, nothing), like landscapes, digital concepting etc. So here's the first batch!

first, a small color study of a landscape from the national geographic website

two studies from the movie "the banquet" and two little random guys

digital stuff!

aaand a self portrait. I hate those, but since I'm trying to overcome some stupid blocking habits, here it is.

That's it for today, have a nice and rewarding year!

Cologne

hello!

As the title says, this weekend I've been to Cologne, Germany, and I've visited the crap out of those christmas markets, but not only! I also visited some cathedrals and a museum, so here's a sketch of a romanesque cathedral (sorry, perspective isn't my friend : D) and a little sketch from Ruben's "Stigmata of St. Francis of Assisi".

and some sketches from imagination

there's some notes about Anthony Jones's lighting tutorial, here's the link if you haven't seen it.

a little bit of mecha training

and at last but not least, a little 3D sketch of Won Bin done in sculptris in aprox. 2 hours, 'cause he's awesome in "Ahjussi" (just go watch it if you haven't). Not very resembling though, but it was worth the exercise :)

A wedding's gift

Hey there, little bonus this week!

I made this a while ago as a wedding gift, and the wedding was last saturday so, here it is!

I'm not very comfortable with love scenes, but it was a celtic themed wedding, and that, I love :) I chose Tristan and Isolde; an old, very old celtic legend. I guess the present version of the story isn't very faithful to the original, but time machines aren't available yet. Sadly.

a dragon

First, a sketch for a future painting,

Then some training sketches with a Clint fucking Eastwood (caption of the reference image :D) kaamelott sketches from memory and some other stuff from the awesome Sartorialist's website

finally, some quick sketches from a visit in Gent at the Comtes de Flandres's castle; a great weapons room with a two handed sword that was about my size (1.70 meter!) very impressive when you're standing next to it o_o and a cool gun/sword thingie (lower right, very very rough sketch).

October Dump

Happy Halloween!

No themed drawing, sorry, I couldn't finish it on time :/ maybe in the november dump! (let's just say it's never too late)

So instead here's a bunch of hands, a ducati and some animals sketches from a visit at Pairi Daisa, a huge zoo here in belgium. It was a very nice outing :)

CFSL workshop 2012!

Here's a proof I went to the cfsl workshop... my badge! hahaa. anyway.

I kind of dared myself to draw every speaker I went to see... and there is one missing :'( Henscher, but it s okay, his class was so interesting and that's why I didn't think about drawing him (not that the others were uninteresting though! he was talking about something I don t know well at all); for those who don't know him, he is the scenarist of the french comic "le banni" (which sadly I didn't read... yet) and his speech was about scenario... obviously. And for someone wanting to make a graphic novel someday it is quiiiite interesting :)

Either way, I butchered some sketches of Sandoval (he tested out Simon's tablet, leaving him with an autographed drawing *jealous*) very nice guy :) Also, Clement Lefevre, Serge Birault, Simon Loche, Francois Delaroziere, Jean Sebastien Rossbach, Mathieu Lauffray, Frederic Nagorny and well I forgot Marc Simonetti too actually.

*not the correct order of the drawings... so you can try to "guess who"! Amazing!*

My other favorite speech was Lauffray's; also about scenario but more from the artist side; story telling, style (do what you like to do!), all of this while his gorgeous drawings where looping on the projector, spoiling us about the ending of Long John Silver... Thanks Mat! : D

The models at the cfsl. The right one actually had a pretty face, sorry! -_-

sketching in the lounge ("la ou tu bois et tu t allounge"... J ai repete ca a chaque fois qu on parlait du lounge... comprenne qui pourra :p)

And stuff, not necessarily from the workshop.

cya!
